Course Overview

Rural Surveillance for Law Enforcement Officers
This course is designed for Narcotics Investigators and other officers who desire to obtain unique and specialized training to achieve the art of invisibility in a woodland environment. You will learn to conduct a rural/woodland operation.
* - Students must bring their own surveillance equipment
 
Course topics include:
Operation planning, camouflage, techniques, prior intelligence of target assessment, officer safety issues, infiltration and exfiltration techniques, hide site construction, equipment necessary for camouflage, equipment necessary t o take surveillance footage, and urban and rural strategies will also be discussed.

This course is a hands-on course. The student will be required to bring operational items to include: camouflaged top, bottom and hat (realtree or military surplus), face paint or veil, gloves, optics/binoculars, small camouflaged day pack, camelback or canteen for water, knife or leatherman, bug spray, 8mm video camera with tape and batteries, and/or 35mm camera with batteries and film, and/or digital camera/recorder with batteries. At the end of each day, we will critique each student's surveillance footage and discuss how to improve their surveillance.
