Course Overview
FUGITIVE MANHUNT COURSE I
This course is designed to teach the law enforcement/K-9 officers fugitive man tracking techniques that will lead to the successful capture of armed and dangerous fugitives attempting to escape and evade in a woodland environment.
This course will provide instruction of different movement techniques and their appropiate applications to various terrain.
Students will learn proper organization of teams, including and understanding each position within the team.
A variety of formations will be taught i.e. wedge, file, wedge with dog teams and security, line and road march formations. Included will be the proper use of rally points and nonverbal communications (hand/arm signals.)
Such topics will include:
Land Navigation
Man Tracking Techniques
Dog Team Formations
Identifying and Crossing Danger Areas
(open, linear, and choke points)
Officer Safety Issues
Tactical Team / Cover Team Movement
Actions on contact / Immediate Actions drills
Team hand-offs
Use of cover/concealment and camouflage
Proper Law Enforcement identification in tactical environment
During this course, after 3-5 days of hands-on academic instruction, there will be a challenging 1 day practical exercise to implement and reaffirm the information and techniques taught in the classroom envirionment. If you or your department feel like they are up to the challenge, register online.
